I know this to be a 1983 model, since the photo was taken on July 4th of that year.

Come to think of it, he's probably right. I took this photo in 1985, and the Crown Vic is already missing one of its bumper guards. As for the "baby LTD", however, I'm fairly sure that's an '84.

AMC didn't actually go under until 1987. This car is a 1970 or 71.

I remember hearing somewhere that these cars were called a "baby mustang" by many of the officers that drove them. The 5.0 motor was the H.O. that came strait from the mustang. I also heard that they had problems with the front two cylenders(sorry for the spelling I'm at work) running lean and in some cases melting in a long pursuit due to the TBI starving for fuel.

Washington county needed to update, but i'm not too sure about this scheme. At least they finally came into the new century by puchasing LEDs instead of those friggin streethawks

Did "oops" work with the brass? I'll have to use that next time.

Was this one of the last models produced by AMC before it went under?

Nice. Wish more departments would go with solid blue lightbars.

Ummm..... I could tell a LOT of difference between the V6 and the Hemi. The V6 felt about like the CVPI, and the Hemi felt like...... well, there was a TON of difference.

1985 Ford "baby" LTD. If it had the 5.0L, it should have been a fairly quick patrol car. Less weight to pull around than the Crown Vic; that's for sure!

The person who took the picture has already made it clear that both are '84s.

1983 Chevy Malibu -- the final year Chevrolet made them. I wonder if this car had the 350 (5.7L) V8 or just the 305 (5.0L).
